Thrive Extensions Hair Care Guide

Coloring and Toning:

We cannot guarantee the quality of our extensions after any treatment including dying, toning, bleaching, perming, keratin or straightening treatment is performed. If you do wish to use such products, always do a test strip prior to performing to ensure you are satisfied with the results. Use of chemicals may damage the extensions. Always seek a licensed professional for any services you wish to perform on your extensions.

Purple Shampoo:

We recommend doing a "purple" bath or diluting the purple shampoo by mixing it with non-purple shampoo to control color and tone instead of applying purple shampoo directly to your extension hair. Always see a professional for toning preferences.

Washing:

Always use professional shampoo and conditioner. The best products to use are a professional shampoo and conditioner that will add moisture to your hair. Make sure you are scrubbing your scalp and getting in between each row. Soft water or shower head filters are recommended and help with the longevity of your hair extensions. Ensure products are sulfate and paraben free. Limit the use of protein-enriched products and/or bond-building products as overuse can cause breakage. Washing with cooler water will encourage overall hair health. Rinse with cold water to seal moisture into your hair after conditioning. Avoid washing every day and supplement with dry shampoo at roots when needed. We encourage a deep conditioner every 2 weeks to keep hair hydrated.

Brushing:

Brush your hair gently starting at the ends working your way to the top. Use a high-quality brush - nylon or boar bristle brushes are best. Avoid excessive brushing and pulling to maintain extension quality.

Drying:

Gently dry hair to damp with a hair towel, apply a leave in conditioner and desired professional hair products. Dry hair as desired. Air drying hair is not suggested as you need to be drying your extensions to prevent any tangling, damage, etc. Never go to bed with wet or damp extensions. Use a professional hair dryer to ensure a smooth finish. Do not exceed medium heat setting when drying.

Styling:

Apply heat protectant to shield hair from heat damage. Do not exceed medium heat setting. Use a wire or boar bristle brush. Use hair oil consistently on ends of hair extensions.

Sleeping:

Sleep with hair in a braid or low ponytail to ensure hair quality and to prevent matting / tangling of extensions. Never go to bed with hair damp or wet. A silk pillowcase is encouraged.

Swimming/Fitness:

We do not recommend swimming with your extensions. The risks of swimming with extensions include absorption of unknown elements in various bodies of water that cause damage to hair and extensions, hair discoloration (hair turning orange/peach/pink), tangling and matting, and excessive dryness. If you do choose to swim with your hair extensions, please note there will be no Thrive refunds or replacements of any kind. We highly recommend if you do choose to swim with them, to coat your hair with a leave in conditioner to work as a barrier.

Customer Responsibility:

It is the buyer's responsibility to inspect all hair and its quality prior to removing it from its original packaging. If there are any quality concerns, please return the hair in its original, unopened packaging so that we can refund or exchange the product. Once hair is removed from the original packaging, the hair cannot be replaced or refunded for any reason.

Installation:

Installation of hair extensions must be performed by a Licensed and Certified Hair Extension Specialist. Please note that your hair can be damaged if hair extensions are not installed properly. Do not exceed recommended timeframe for your maintenance appointment (6-8 weeks). If you do exceed recommended timeframe and do not use proper care and products, we cannot guarantee the quality of your hair extensions or your natural hair.

Move Ups / Maintenance:

Extension maintenance / move ups should be scheduled every 6-9 weeks depending on your install method or hair growth. Make sure to schedule your regular maintenance appointments with your stylist to avoid matting.

Sunscreen:

Sunscreen will discolor your hair extensions. We highly recommend avoiding contact of hair extensions with sunscreens. Even a simple rub or brush against skin with sunscreen on can discolor your hair extensions. We highly suggest tying up your hair to avoid any contact with sunscreen. We high discourage using a spray sunscreen as it can come in contact airborne to your hair extensions. Sunscreen will cause your hair extensions to turn pink/peach/orange in color and cannot be reversed. Thrive is not responsible for any refunds or replacements if your extensions become discolored. If you do choose to use sunscreen with Thrive Extensions, always choose a sunscreen without this ingredient: avobenzone.

UV Rays:

Keep your hair pulled back and under a hat to protect your hair color and excess dryness.

PLEASE AVOID:

Chlorine, salt water, swimming, sunscreen with avobenzone as an ingredient, and be mindful of all self-tanners as they can also cause discoloration in hair.

Avoid any products that contain silicone, dimethicone, sulfates, a lot of protein, and olaplex.

Reminder: Hair Extensions are not your natural hair and have to be treated differently. Special hair care routine and products are highly recommended to ensure upkeep of quality and longevity in your hair extensions. Please follow these guidelines to ensure quality of hair extensions.
